Credo Baptism

Credo baptism, also known as believer’s baptism, is a biblical sacrament taught in Acts 2:38, Acts 8:37, Acts 16:30-34. It is administered to individuals who have reached an age of understanding and have made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ. In contrast to infant baptism, where infants or young children are baptized based on the faith of their parents or guardians, credo baptism is a conscious choice made by the individual to publicly declare their faith and commitment to the Christian faith. This sacrament involves immersion in water as a symbol of spiritual cleansing and rebirth, signifying a person’s decision to follow Christ and join Christian community. Credo baptism holds significant theological and symbolic importance in many Christian denominations and is often seen as a key experience in a person’s conversion.

Is Acts 8:37 part of God’s preserved word?

In the Acts of the Apostles the eunuch is described as at once baptized by Philip, because he believed with his whole heart – Pontius, Life and Passion of St. Cyprian 260AD

In the Acts of the Apostles: Lo, here is water; what is there which hinders me from being baptized? Then said Philip, If you believe with all your heart, you may. – Cyprian, Treatise 12 Third Book #43 250AD

Philip declared that this was Jesus, and that the Scripture was fulfilled in Him; as did also the believing eunuch himself: and, immediately requesting to be baptized, he said, I believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God. -Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Book Three Chapter 12 200AD

So for over one thousand five hundred years, there was a verse in the church’s bible that would make infant baptism impossible and in 1844 for the very first time it was not only called into question but has since been removed. The document that was brought to the bible is of court Codex Sinaiticus which is dated to 325 AD and is by all accounts NOT used by the church until modern times. Not until its inclusion with all its bad grammar, misspellings, and ommissions in 1881 into the The New Testament in the Original Greek by Westcott and Hort and then that Greek new testament along with the very simular Novum Testamentum Graece  by Eberhard Nestle and Kurt Aland was used to create modern bibles like the ASV, ESV, NASB etc.

STOP AND THINK

What is the number one reason to reject The Book of Mormon, Ellen G. White writings, the Quran, The New World Translation, The Passion Translation? Because they are not orthodox! They are not what the church has always had. They present new doctrines that was not sealed in the preserved word.

So why would we turn around and accept the ESV that teaches Jesus did not consider equality with God something to be grasped? This is a new teaching see the article on Phil 2:6.

Or that Joseph was Jesus’ father. Or that Jesus was capable of lying. Well here is a short list of errors in the ESV:

  1. Mark 1:2 – Isaiah did not say this Malachi did – Malachi 3:1
  2. Phil 2:5-8 – Jesus did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped – but he did see Jn 10:30, Mt 9:6, Jn 8:58
  3. Luke 2:33 – Joseph is listed as Jesus’ father
  4. John 7:8-10 – Jesus lies
  5. 2 Sam 21:19 -David did not slay Goliath
  6. Luke 2:22 – Joseph and Jesus needed to be purified
  7. Mt 5:22 is a sin to get angry (Jesus was angry Mark 3:5)
  8. 1 Tim 6:5 – Paul forgets to conclude his sentence
  9. 1 Tim 3:16- Phillip refuses to answer the question
  10. 1 John 5:7- John suddenly does not know Greek and makes a nonsense statement
  11. 1 John 5:7- The Trinity is not one
  12. Mark 10:24 – it is difficult to enter the Kingdom of God
  13. 2 Cor 2:17 -Sellers of God’s word
  14. Proverbs 18:24 – Friends lead to ruin but Jesus has many friends John 15:15
  15. Micah 5:2 -Jesus is just really old not everlasting (created or God)
  16. Isaiah 53:9 – Jesus buried with a rich man in spite of him doing no violence – vs with the rich BECAUSE he did no violence and did not lie
  17. Psalms 145:13 – the Lord is kind in all his works? – Rm 12:19
  18. Luke 4:4 – Luke forgets the Word of God (see Deu 8:3)
  19. Mt 6:13 – His is not the Kingdom, nor the power nor the glory forever
