“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks  receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” -Mt 7:7-8

Ask and it shall be given” Jesus tells us to engage the Spirit to acknowledge the divine source and request wisdom.  We are encouraged throughout the bible to consult God in all we do (Prov3:6) We are told that God cares about every little thing in our lives.  Paul says that he prayed constantly and about literally everything (1Thes5:17).  This type of prayer diminishes our worry and anxiety (Phil4:6).

Seek and you shall find” Jesus also says we should  engage the mind to study, think ethically, logically, think about reasons and purpose. Again we see the bible telling us over and over again that God is concerned with our mind and how we think (Prov15:28). He wants us to think differently than the world does (Rm12:2). He encourages us to think about good things (Phil4:8) and to think in terms of God’s perspective and not a human perspective (Col3:2)

Knock and the door will be opened” Here Jesus tells us to engage the flesh and to act according to what we have learned and live out the moral ethic by doing our best. Remember that we are doing everything for God for earthly reasons (Col3:23). Doing what Jesus has taught us is how we show our love for him  (John 14:15). In all things we are told that by working hard we help the weak either in the work itself or as an encouragement to others. ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts20:35).
